New DC Stevie Moss (Lucy Speed) joins DS Carter (Christopher Fox) and DC Perkins (Bruce Byron) as they investigate a hit and run on a courier, whilst PC's Roberts (Ben Richards) and Green (Louisa Lytton) witness the abduction on an 11-year-old boy. Gang culture is the focus of an investigation when Sergeant Dale Smith (Alex Walkinshaw) reconnects with troubled mum Carly Samuels, leading to a shock shooting.
PC's Green and Valentine (John Bowler) find the body of a disgraced doctor on the banks of the Thames with a multitude of suspects; PC's Gayle (Micah Balfour) and Stamp (Graham Cole) also discover a body in a derelict building whilst searching for a distressed young girl; and PC's Kean (Melanie Gutteridge) and Armstrong (Ali Bastian) are first on scene when two explosions tear apart a photocopy shop and a nightclub. It is the first of a series of bombings which ultimately leads to a heroic act with a tragic result, which rocks the Sun Hill team.
DC Banks (Patrick Robinson) is first on the scene when a young boy is found with a loaded gun leading to an investigation of where the firearm came from; DCI Meadows' (Simon Rouse) godson calls to collect his father after a poker game and is knocked down in a hit-and-run incident; and new Sergeant Rachel Weston (Claire Goose) arrives at Sun Hill investigating a break-in at a jewellery shop with DC's Walker (Cat Simmons) and Webb (Chris Simmons).
Members from Leipzig PD arrive to investigate the abduction of a German national in London--with their brute tactics greatly annoying Meadows; and it's anything but a fun New Year's Eve for PC Ryder (Rhea Baily) when faced with helping her visiting brother who becomes caught up in a nightclub stabbing.
