THE TIDE OF LIFE (1996): Follow the fortunes of young housekeeper, Emily Kennedy, as she learns about relationships with three very different men. Forced from home of her first employer, Sep McGilby after his plans to marry her come to tragic end, Emily finds work as housekeeper for farmer, Larry Birch.

THE GIRL (1996): A dying woman brings her daughter, Hannah, to live with the man who fathered her--and the man's bitter and vindictive wife.

THE WINGLESS BIRD (1997): On the eve of World War I, Agnes Conway manages both the business and the problems of her troubled family. She finds the strength to break class barriers and help her sister Jessie marry a good boy from a family of dockside toughs.

THE RAG NYMPH (1997): Separated from her prostitute mother as the woman flees on foot down the filthy mid-19th Century streets of Newcastle from the police, ten year old Millie is taken under the wing of rag lady Aggie Winkovski and her crippled helper, Ben.

THE MOTH (1997): Set in 1913 Northumbria, England, the story is about Robert Bradley, a strong-willed young worker at a Jarrow shipyard, who arrives home one day to find that his father has died....Even worse Carrie will not say who the real father is because she has always had a crush on Robert, and would rather marry him.

THE ROUND TOWER (1998): Set in mid-1950's England, this story tells of the wealthy, socially upwardly-progressive Ratcliffe family....An old friend of the family, who is himself trapped in a loveless marriage, makes love to Vanessa one night, and she becomes pregnant, but won't reveal who the father is.

COLOUR BLIND (1998): In industrial Tyneside during World War I, life for the McQueen family is turned upside down when daughter Bridget comes home with a black husband.

TILLY TROTTER (1999): Tilly Trotter is a down to earth young woman who is full of integrity and impassioned with innocent affection for the local farmer. Resilience and self-belief carry her through some very dark days, and this splendid adaptation shows us her journey from destitution to eventual happiness.

THE SECRET (2000): Discontented with her husband (Michel Bompoil), a woman (Anne Coesens) has an affair with a man (Tony Todd) she met while working.
